Course Description:
This unit specifies competencies required to manage database system. They include identification of database management systems, designing of database, Creation and manipulation of database, database testing e.g. using dummy data, implementation of the designed database, establishing transaction and concurrency mechanism and managing database security.
Learning Outcomes:
- Identify database management system .
- Design database.
- Create and manipulate database.
- Perform database testing, e.g using dummy data.
- Implement designed database(roll out).
- Establish transaction and concurrency mechanism.
- Manage database security.
Assessment.
Students will be expected to do assessments in order to be considered competent for this course. Assessment administration will be as follows.
- Two C.A.T(s) each 30 marks.
- Practical assignments, in groups.
- Group assignments.
- One summative assessment 70 marks.

Students are required to be having the following.
A functional digital device and with internet connection.
